Lurking, waiting for a chance
To besiege you with His sparkle
In your unsuspecting glance.
He is solid. With his muscle
He can strike a deadly blow
To your strongest aspirations;
To the faith from which they grow.
Oh you may not recognize him.
He is poised and quite well dressed.
He’s your neighbor or co-worker.
He’s someone you would impress.
He will back you in a corner
With a calm seductive air.
When you finally know just who he is
You cry out in despair.
His world is loud and boisterous, though,
And no one seems to hear.
But God can hear his children
And your cry falls on His ear.
And He provides the answer.
Though His path may be obscure,
He has promised a deliverance
That His people may be pure.
He has promised from your darkness
He will guide you to the day.
So grasp His everlasting arm.
Escape! There is a way!
… But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
