Sweet Sunday Morning
Such a sweet morning to worship God with the folks at East Hill, in Pulaski, Tennessee. Our three grandchildren wanted to come with us and we had a few minutes beforehand to drive them around the square and show them the store building where we bought the high chair and baby bed that their mother used and later they, themselves, used. We still have them and, because we’re so blessed, still get to use both. We showed them the house where I brought their mama home from the hospital when she was born. The store where I bought their clothes when they had the 75 % off sale,
and the courthouse where they awarded Uncle Caleb the best-of-show in the Homecoming Tennessee parade, look the same. I showed them a yard from which we bought Mammy’s oak dresser that’s still in the master bedroom today. Then they watched their Papa preach on that same stage where the older generation saw him preach when he was 23. Many of the people who gave their mama gifts at her baby shower, before she arrived, came up and met Hannah’s children. I showed them the auditorium’s exit to the nursery, which is conspicuously in the FRONT of the auditorium, where I would carry their Uncle Caleb when he misbehaved. I told them about the
day he kept saying loudly, as we were exiting “PWEASE, PWEASE…Don’t wear me out!” I told them that, when we came back in, with tears in his eyes, he looked over my shoulder, at the people in the row behind us, and said ” She weared me out.” Heather and Mark had us all for lunch today and they didn’t even know we were bringing the kids. (Glenn was blessed to be able to baptize Mark when he was a teenager. His dad was a great elder in that church!) What a great blessing of adaptable hospitality! The sweetest thing about the morning was worshiping God in the beauty of holiness as we were reminded of his mercies that
endure to all generations. We were thankful to bring a new generation to this place. He is so good!
Don’t forget to get your hoodie or shirt order in. We’ll be making that final order in a few days! Happy Digging!
