On Sunday prepare soup and cornbread muffin in a to-go bag and set in foyer for elderly members or those who live alone. They can grab on the way out each Sunday (got idea from my sister).
Love this idea. Love Sandra. Love her sister. (I don’t really know them, but they are sisters!) Love soup. Love cornbread. Love services and elderly brothers and sisters. SO this is all my kind of service idea. you could also tweak and bring freezer soup and cornbread, or you could make it the night before and bring straight from your refrigerator, so it would, for sure, still be fresh after a couple of hours at the building. Make a whole crockpot and bring several bags if you are in a large congregation. I can even imagine passing this fun job around to a different woman for each Sunday of the month” The “Soup for Sunday Sisters.”
For most of us, it’s difficult to even look at the room in which we opened gifts without being struck by the truth that we have so much more than we need. Several trash bags full of just the Christmas morning wrapping paper is indicative of that truth. A couple of days to clean up the “gift-opening mess.” Several different gift-opening gatherings. We are so rich.
Praying we are able to use these six simple ideas as springboards to greatness. “He who is greatest is servant of all” (Mark 10:44).

Make a lonely sister smile.
If she’s hurting, sit a while.
When she’s crying, wipe her tears.
Calm her panic, quell her fears.
Take her where she needs to go.
