It’s only 16 days till Digging Deep reveal time! The books are finished! I do not have one in hand yet, but I asked the printers to put one in the mail for me, so I can see it. Glenn and I are picking them up from the printer in a couple of weeks on our way to Branson PTP. I do have shirts and hoodies already in hand. and we are excited about a couple of new items this year.
We also can’t wait to unveil the second edition of Caleb and Rebekah Colley’s congregational and family Bible study materials. It’s called “That We May Believe “ and it’s going to be ready by Branson time as well! You can read about it here: (https://thecolleyhouse.org/?s=New+study+series). If you study this with your kids, I can attest, as grandmother to two who have already done much of it, they will have a pretty good handle on every book of the Bible. I can’t wait to put this in the hands of a couple of families I know.
I know that we, as women, do not make the decisions for a whole congregation, but I am hoping the books can help lots of churches grow in spirit. It’s an entire year’s curriculum for those who use it that way!
Next, I want to tell you about the wonderful and unexpected thing that happened last week-end in Caruthersville, Missouri. They’d asked me to come have an informal discussion about Digging Deep with some local women. When I walked in, I could tell that several—like maybe 10—congregations were represented, from about four different states. There was a registration table and a Digging Deep bulletin board. Songs of praise and prayers and Scripture readings had been planned. Someone had made bracelets for every single woman and, when I finished speaking, I went back to the fellowship hall and there was a feast, complete with a Digging Deep cake and some of the best strawberry cornbread I have ever put in my mouth! (Well, maybe it was the only strawberry cornbread I’ve ever eaten, but still you would sass your grandma!)
When I got back to the hotel room, from this little informal talk, my husband said, “What took you so long?”
“Well, these Caruthersville women really know how to talk!”
Don’t forget, if you are not going to Branson, there will be a video posted at 1:00 pm on July 19th on the Digging Deep facebook page and on www.thecolleyhouse.org. All new materials will be available on the website beginning then. There’s always a free download, as well. I can’t wait to dig with you. Invite friends and we will have a great year toward heaven together!
Finally, I love these words from Katie Curd. The Word is simply powerful in our lives!
I have enjoyed this study so much. I’ve been working ahead when I have the chance this summer because of a variety of things like my son being at AP Camp, being a counselor at our Bible Camp here, and VBS. Tonight, I’ve been reading the powerful words about Mary Magdalene in chapter 12. Cindy mentions a prayer she prays about being thankful for material blessings but also praying that they never get in the way of serving faithfully. She says it has helped her to not let material things get in the way of being a keeper at home. I’m so thankful for all the material things we have, but I’m much more thankful for this tonight…sitting at our table digging, with a three year old on my lap with a book and my husband working on a sermon. May I never let things get in the way of my job as a wife and mother.
