This happened. As I was getting us all back into the car after going into the wrong farmhouse at Apple Barn, this did happen.
That car door just kept coming at me and it was the slo-mo “I-think-I’m-really-going-down” kind of fall. I was blessed to have a compassionate friend along, who said “Let me get a picture.”…and three children who thought it was the funniest things since prohibited bathroom humor (Why is the word “poop” so hilarious, anyway?)
And could I go in and sort of “emcee” and deliver a nice ladies luncheon directly from this bush? Well, we did it, anyway, and we had a “bush”el of fun. (And my next speech, about helping each other get up when we fall spiritually, had its own pre-made powerpoint image.)

The kids thought the whole rodent escapade was great fun….
The best part about the day is that I think every lady who attended is now planning to join us in a brand new study entitled :”The Hand of God”. Some are already flying though the first chapter of the free download and many are ordering the spiral-bound edition. The local Huntsville coffee shop group is meeting today for their last discussion of “The God of More” and growing into a group of eleven or so that breaks up busy weeks on Wednesday mornings with dedicated, but calming, time in the Word….and coffee. It’s my firm conviction that, if you make it to a coffee-shop study, you should reward yourself with a latte, or at least a flavor in your coffee.
You can read about exactly how to do the study (in a group) or at your own little kitchen table, right here. The video is shareable from this spot…https://thecolleyhouse.org/digging-deep-introduction-video.
The study officially kicks off on September 1st, but keep on inviting through the month of September. It’s an easy (and worth-it) catch up. Some ladies are going to be around the throne as a result of an invitation to dig. If we could get only one soul there, the whole Digging Deep effort would be infinitely more valuable than we could imagine. But we have multiple women now, each year, who are making the decision to have their sins washed away in baptism. Praise God! It’s an humbling privilege to get to be a small part of this kind of evangelism.
Keep telling your friends. Put it on your Facebook page, your Instagram, or X. Put it on your lips when you encounter friends. Most of all, put it in your prayers. This tech-illiterate girl needs your prayers that I’ll always find the solution to getting the material to women—in podcasts and on the website. I know, without his providence of a few women who “know things”, we’d be sunk. But we just keep swimming, and Digging Deep is a community of women who are determined. I’m thankful for Jennifer Benavides, Lindsey VanHook, Hannah Colley, and Ruth Soli, for design, tech and dissemination of all the things. I’m thankful for Glenn and Ezra for hard work down there in shipping (even though they did let the resident squirrel into my house while moving the massive amount of books into the basement!…and he wreaked a berserk havoc, until he finally found his way back outside, last night! Funny how he got in right past my husband. Then my husband left town for three days, and I thought “We’ve never had a rat this big in our house!… and he is so good at by-passing these traps!” I noticed this “rat” had large eyes and he could stare me down, but he never gave me a clear view of the rest of his quick little self! I thought he was some big-eyed Indonesian species.)
Did I say…INVITE?!! You may put someone on the path to needed crisis prep, or a richer prayer life, or even heaven, itself. Now’s the inviting season and we will soon settle into the cozy coffee/Bible/notebook digging season for “The Hand of God.” I cannot wait.
I can hear that tape dispenser screeching down there right now. It’s the sound of the Inviting Season!
